The Italian Cricket
Academy (I.C.A.)
The Italian Cricket Academy is born with a dual purpose. It has a
short term objective and a long-term
one, to identify athletes deemed to have potential and follow them
over a longer period so that these young cricketers will provide
the back bone of the Italian youth and senior national teams in the
years to come.
To begin with, the Academy can only cater for a limited number of
athletes. The starting numbers should be limited to 16 but this
should grow over time. There should be a minimum number per age
group. Maximum numbers will have to be limited to the ability of the
Academy to develop the athletes and tutor them over a sustained
period of time. It would not be practical to start the Academy with
many athletes then be unable to adequately support them over time.
Although the Academy shall be independent form the clubs at all
levels, it must have some jurisdiction over the clubs in developing
players who are part of the Academy. Consequently, if a club or
athlete does not abide to the rules, they will be excluded from the
Academy.

L'Italian Cricket Academy nasce con un
duplice scopo. Un obiettivo di breve termine e uno di lungo termine, che sarà quello di
identificare gli atleti con un buon potenziale da seguire più a
lungo in modo che possano diventare la spina dorsale delle nazionali
giovanili e della nazionale seniores dei prossimi anni.
All'inizio l'Academy potrà occuparsi solo di un numero limitato di
atleti. Il numero iniziale di partecipanti sarà limitato a 16 ma
dovrebbe crescere col tempo. Un numero prestabilito di atleti
sarà presente per ogni fascia di età. Il numero massimo sarà
determinato dall'abilità dell'Academy di formare e valorizzare
atleti da seguire e sostenere nel tempo. Non sarebbe razionale
iniziare l'Academy senza poi poterli sviluppare nel tempo.
Sebbene l'Academy sia totalmente indipendenete dai club dovrà avere
una minima giurisdizione sui club per ciò che riguarda lo sviluppo
dei giovani giocatori che ne fanno parte. Di conseguenza se un club
o un atleta non seguiranno le regole saranno esclusi dall'Academy.
